Klamath (Aphanizomenon flos-aquae, or AFA) is an exception among microalgae: it isn’t cultivated, but wild-harvested in a single place on Earth — Klamath Lake, in southern Oregon. Sitting at 1,300 metres altitude and fed by mineral-rich volcanic waters, this lake offers the algae a natural environment no cultivation pond can replicate.

Flamant Vert’s harvest is certified organic by Ecocert. It’s the second Klamath we carry alongside Dynveo’s Klamath capsules: the same algae, in two different formats and doses.

A freshwater algae is fragile: poorly dried, it loses much of its pigments and nutrients. Flamant Vert’s Klamath is dried quickly after harvest using the DLT Hydro.dri® technique, a gentle low-temperature drying process that preserves the qualities of the fresh algae — its deep blue-green colour is proof of that. The tablets contain only two ingredients: 96% Klamath and 4% rice starch to hold the tablet together — no coating, no unnecessary additives.

Like its microalgae cousins, Klamath has a remarkable nutrient density: 4 tablets (2 g) provide about 1.3 g of complete protein, with all essential amino acids. It’s also valued for its pigments — phycocyanin and chlorophyll — as well as its naturally occurring vitamins and minerals.

Within the microalgae family, each has its own character: spirulina for protein and iron, chlorella for chlorophyll and detox support, Klamath for its complete profile and wild origin. Many of our customers rotate between them through the seasons.

Take 2 to 4 tablets per day with a glass of water or juice, ideally in the morning. For a first course, start with 2 tablets a day in the first week before moving to 4. At 4 tablets a day, the 120-tablet box covers a full month. Klamath is taken in courses of 1 to 3 months, alone or alternating with spirulina and chlorella.

Klamath Lake algae are subject to particular vigilance regarding microcystins, natural toxins produced by other cyanobacteria in the lake. At Flamant Vert, every batch is tested and guaranteed free of detectable microcystins — a point we systematically verify before stocking any Klamath in our shop.

Not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet. Pregnant or breastfeeding women and people undergoing treatment should seek their doctor’s advice. Store in a dry place away from heat and light.

Klamath, spirulina, chlorella: what’s the difference?

Three microalgae, three profiles. Spirulina is richest in protein and iron, chlorella is the chlorophyll champion, and Klamath is the only one wild-harvested, valued for its very broad nutrient spectrum. They complement each other more than they compete.

Is this product tested for microcystins?

Yes. Every batch of Flamant Vert Klamath is tested after harvest, and only batches with no detectable microcystins are tableted. Ecocert organic certification is an additional layer of control.

How long does a 120-tablet box last?

One month at 4 tablets a day, two months at 2 tablets a day. For a 3-month course at full dose, plan for three boxes.
