Aphanizomenon flos-aquae (AFA), or “Klamath”, is a wild cyanobacteria that grows naturally in Klamath Lake, Oregon — a unique ecosystem fed by mineral-rich volcanic springs. Unlike spirulina and chlorella, which are farmed in controlled ponds, Klamath is harvested wild, giving it a richer, more diverse nutrient profile: B vitamins including active B12, bioavailable minerals, essential amino acids, polyphenols, pigments, and two compounds absent from other micro-algae — concentrated phycocyanin and phenylethylamine (PEA). Harvesting is eco-responsible, and the product carries dual EU (FR-BIO-10) and US (OTCO) organic certification.

Phycocyanin is a blue pigment studied for its antioxidant properties and its role in supporting the body’s natural defences; each capsule delivers a verified 56.5mg. PEA, a natural neuromodulator at 5.5mg per capsule, is involved in regulating dopamine and serotonin and traditionally linked to emotional balance and motivation — its effect is prolonged by phycocyanin, which inhibits the enzymes that normally break PEA down quickly. This synergy is unique to Klamath. The algae also supplies B1, B2, B3, B6, B9, B12, beta-carotene, chlorophyll, amino acids and bioavailable minerals (magnesium, calcium, iron, zinc), making it a well-rounded nutritional complement.

Unlike conventional spray-drying, which exposes the algae to high heat and degrades sensitive nutrients, DLT Hydro Dri® dries at controlled low temperature, preserving vitamins, enzymes and heat-fragile pigments — notably phycocyanin. Each batch is lab-tested to verify exact phycocyanin and PEA content, setting it apart from conventional spray-dried algae powders whose actual pigment levels can fall well short of label claims.

Take 1 to 4 capsules a day with a large glass of water, ideally in the morning before breakfast or between meals; the dose can be split morning and early afternoon. A regular 2–3 month course is recommended, at 2 capsules a day a 60-capsule bottle covers one month. Do not exceed 4 capsules a day.

Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women or children unless advised by a healthcare professional. Due to its vitamin K content, use with caution if taking anticoagulants (particularly vitamin K antagonists) — medical supervision is needed. Does not replace medical treatment or a varied, balanced diet. Store in a cool, dry place away from light.

What’s the difference between Klamath and spirulina?

Klamath contains PEA, a neuromodulator absent from spirulina, plus a wider range of vitamins and pigments; spirulina is more concentrated in protein and iron. The two are complementary and can be combined.

Is it suitable for vegans?

Yes — the capsule shell is plant-based (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose) and the formula contains no animal ingredients. Also gluten-free, lactose-free and soy-free.
