Lactose is the sugar naturally present in milk and dairy products. To be absorbed, it must be split into two simple sugars (glucose and galactose) by an intestinal enzyme: lactase. With age, many adults produce less and less of it. Undigested lactose then ferments in the colon, causing the well-known discomfort experienced by lactose-intolerant people.

Dynveo’s lactase delivers this enzyme directly at mealtime. It’s Tolerase® L, a patented grade from the DSM-Firmenich group, obtained through bio-fermentation of the Aspergillus oryzae fungus. Each capsule delivers 5,000 ALU (Acid Lactase Units), a measured, guaranteed enzymatic activity for real effectiveness on ingested lactose.

Bloating, gas, abdominal cramps or disrupted transit in the hours after cheese, yoghurt, ice cream or a coffee with milk are the typical signs of incomplete lactose digestion. Lactase lets you keep enjoying these foods without giving them up or suffering the discomfort.

EFSA, the European food safety authority, officially recognises that lactase “improves lactose digestion in individuals who have difficulty digesting lactose”. Clinical studies report a symptom reduction of around 76-88% when the enzyme is taken with the meal — a targeted, as-needed solution that complements the other digestive enzymes we offer for intestinal comfort.

Take 1 capsule (5,000 ALU) just before or at the start of a meal containing lactose, with a glass of water. For a meal particularly rich in dairy, or if you’re very sensitive, 2 capsules (10,000 ALU) can be taken. Use is free and as-needed — there’s no course to follow, simply take lactase whenever you eat dairy. The 60-capsule bottle comfortably covers regular use; keep a few in your bag for meals out or while travelling.

The capsule shell is made from pullulan, a tapioca-derived fibre: 100% plant-based and suitable for vegan diets, with no animal gelatine. The formula is deliberately minimal — acacia fibre, pullulan and Tolerase® L — with no controversial excipients or additives. Like the whole Dynveo range, this product is manufactured in Europe to FSSC 22000 and HACCP standards, with guaranteed enzymatic activity and stability tested up to 36 months.

Does lactase course lactose intolerance?

No. It doesn’t increase your natural enzyme production — it supplies the missing lactase at mealtime to digest ingested lactose. The effect is temporary, lasting through digestion.

What does 5,000 ALU mean?

ALU (Acid Lactase Units) measures lactase’s enzymatic activity in acidic conditions, like those in the stomach. The higher the value, the greater the capacity to break down lactose. 5,000 ALU per capsule corresponds to an effective dose for a standard meal.

Can it be taken at every meal?

Yes, lactase is only taken when you eat dairy products, as many times as needed during the day. There is no tolerance build-up.

Is it suitable for vegans?

Yes. The enzyme comes from fungal (non-animal) fermentation, and the capsule is made from plant-based pullulan — the product is 100% vegan.
