Buy Organic Shatavari: the Ayurvedic plant for women’s wellbeing

Ayur-vana’s Organic Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus), in 120 vegetable capsules, is a plant central to Ayurvedic tradition for women’s wellbeing, traditionally used to support women at every stage of life. Available at our Paris shop, with Click & Collect and delivery across France and Europe.

What is Shatavari, and how is it traditionally used?

Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) is a climbing plant of the Asparagaceae family, native to India and the Himalayas. Its Sanskrit name means “she who possesses a hundred husbands”, evoking the feminine vitality this plant is traditionally believed to support. It is the tuberous roots that have been used in Ayurvedic herbal medicine for millennia. Shatavari is classed among the major rasayanas of Ayurveda (traditional regenerating preparations) and contains specific active compounds: steroidal saponins (shatavarosides), the most studied of Shatavari’s constituents; isoflavones and flavonoids, compounds with antioxidant properties; mucilage, associated with a traditional soothing action on mucous membranes; and minerals including zinc, manganese, copper and cobalt. In Ayurveda, Shatavari is traditionally considered to balance the Vata and Pitta doshas thanks to its gentle, grounding, unctuous qualities.

Traditional uses for women’s wellbeing

Ayurvedic tradition uses Shatavari at every stage of a woman’s life: traditionally taken to support comfort through the different phases of the menstrual cycle; traditionally used to help navigate the menopause transition with greater ease; in Ayurveda, traditionally regarded as a plant of choice to support female fertility; as a rasayana and adaptogen, traditionally used to help maintain overall energy and vitality; and, during breastfeeding, traditionally regarded in Ayurveda as a natural galactagogue (only under medical guidance). Shatavari contains no synthetic hormones. It is a food supplement and does not, under any circumstances, replace medical follow-up.

Why choose Ayur-vana’s organic Shatavari

Ayur-vana is the French specialist in Ayurvedic herbal supplements. Their Shatavari stands out for: organic certification, with roots from controlled organic farming, free from pesticides; whole root powder, using the entire root to preserve the full range of shatavarosides and natural compounds; 800mg per dose, with 2 capsules providing 800mg of organic Shatavari root powder; a 120-capsule format, for a 2-month course (or 1 month at a higher dose); and vegan HPMC vegetable capsules, with no excipients or additives.

How to use, combinations & precautions

Take 2–4 capsules a day with a glass of water, with meals. A renewable course of 2–3 months is recommended; the 120-capsule bottle covers 1–2 months depending on dose. Shatavari can be combined with other plants available at our shop, such as Ashwagandha KSM-66 (traditionally considered the male equivalent of Shatavari — the classic Ayurvedic adaptogen duo), borage oil (for GLA and prostaglandin balance), or magnesium and iron bisglycinate to support the premenstrual period and menstrual losses.

Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women without medical advice. Not recommended for people with a history of hormone-dependent cancers. Consult a doctor if undergoing hormonal treatment. Food supplement — does not replace a varied, balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle. Keep out of reach of children.
