D-Mannose is a simple sugar (monosaccharide) naturally found in cranberries, apples, peaches, blueberries and oranges, and produced in small amounts by the body. Structurally similar to glucose but very poorly metabolised, it is absorbed in the upper small intestine, passes into the blood, is filtered by the kidneys and excreted in the urine largely unchanged — a metabolic pathway that underlies its role in urinary comfort without significantly affecting blood sugar.

Powder allows precise dose adjustment, offers maximum purity with nothing beyond the D-Mannose itself, and is generally more economical per gram than capsules, which require a shell and sometimes fillers. It dissolves easily in water or unsweetened juice — unsweetened cranberry juice pairs particularly well, given the complementary way both act on urinary comfort.

Take a level teaspoon (about 2g) once or twice a day, dissolved in a glass of water or unsweetened juice. Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day while taking D-Mannose to support good hydration.

Does D-Mannose raise blood sugar?

No. Although chemically a simple sugar, D-Mannose is very poorly metabolised — most of it is excreted unchanged in urine rather than converted to glucose or stored as glycogen, so its impact on blood sugar is negligible.

What is the difference between D-Mannose and cranberry juice?

Cranberry juice contains proanthocyanidins (PACs), polyphenols that act on urinary comfort through a different mechanism than D-Mannose. The two approaches are complementary and can be combined; D-Mannose powder offers a precise, concentrated dose without the added sugars found in many commercial cranberry juices.
