Five ingredients, doses on the label
For three capsules: 1000 mg of N-acetyl L-tyrosine (812 mg of tyrosine), 300 mg of rhodiola root extract standardised to 3% rosavins (9 mg), 225 mg of bacopa extract standardised to 20% bacosides (45 mg), 120 mg of citicoline and 15 mg of Huperzia serrata extract providing 150 µg of huperzine A.
None of these ingredients is a vitamin or a mineral: no authorised health claim applies to them, so we simply describe the composition. Nutripure presents Nootropure as a formula for periods of sustained intellectual work: students before exams, long working days, athletes before a competition, competitive gamers.
Bacopin® and Cognizin®: two branded ingredients
Bacopa monnieri, known as brahmi in Ayurveda, is a small plant of India’s wetlands. Its composition varies a lot from one extract to another, hence the choice of Bacopin®, a whole-plant extract standardised to 20% bacosides.
Citicoline, also called CDP-choline, combines choline and cytidine. Nootropure uses Cognizin®, a citicoline produced by fermentation by the Japanese group Kyowa Hakko Bio. For bacopa on its own, see our bacopa monnieri shelf, including Doctor’s Best Bacopa Synapsa.
Tyrosine, rhodiola and huperzine
Tyrosine is an amino acid the body makes from phenylalanine; it is found in protein-rich foods. Nootropure provides it as N-acetyl L-tyrosine, 1 g a day, which is why Nutripure recommends taking the capsules in the morning. For tyrosine alone, there is Dynveo L-Tyrosine.
Rhodiola rosea grows in the cold, mountainous regions of Northern Europe, Siberia and Asia; its root extract is standardised to 3% rosavins. Huperzia serrata is an Asian club moss used in Chinese tradition, from which huperzine A is extracted: 150 µg a day, the smallest amount in the formula, and the reason for the precautions below.
How to take it, and precautions
Three capsules a day with a large glass of water, preferably in the morning at breakfast, all at once. Nutripure recommends a one-month course, exactly one pot of 90 capsules. There is no caffeine, so your morning coffee stays as it is. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
For adults only. Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Because the formula contains huperzine A among other ingredients, if you are on any medical treatment, ask your doctor or pharmacist before starting. Keep out of reach of children.
