A simple shaker, designed for powders
The Nutripure Shaker uses the most proven design of its kind: a translucent cup 21 cm tall, a blue screw-on lid, a flip cap to drink from, and a stainless steel mixing ball slipped inside. The graduations go up to 600 ml, but the cup holds up to 820 ml: this margin leaves room for the powder and for air, which is essential for the mix to happen when you shake.
The screw lid is the part that matters most. It is what keeps the shaker leak-proof, provided it is screwed on properly and the flip cap is closed until it clicks. A carrying loop attached to the cap lets you hook it onto a bag or carry it with one finger between two exercises.
Nutripure states that its shaker withstands cold and heat, that it is 100% recyclable and that it is BPA-free, with a certificate to back it up. We have placed it next to the brand’s proteins in our shop in Paris 12th: it is the accessory people ask us for most often when they buy their first bag of whey.
The stainless steel ball, or how to avoid lumps
Without a mixer, a protein powder tends to form small dry clumps that float or stick to the bottom. The spring-shaped stainless steel wire ball changes everything: when you shake, it moves through the liquid in every direction and breaks up these clumps on its way. The result is a smooth drink in about fifteen seconds, with no whisk or blender.
The filling order matters as much as the ball. Pour in the liquid first, water or a plant-based drink, then the powder, and finally the ball on top. If you put the powder in first, it packs down at the bottom, gets wet unevenly and forms a paste in the corners. Screw on the lid, check the flip cap, then shake vigorously up and down for 10 to 20 seconds.
For a 25 to 30 g serving of powder, 200 to 300 ml of liquid is usually right: the graduations save you from getting out a measuring jug. Always follow the preparation instructions specific to each product, printed on its bag.
Whey, plant protein, collagen: mixing each powder well
Not all powders behave the same way. A whey isolate, such as Nutripure Native Whey Isolate or its chocolate version, dissolves very quickly: a few seconds are enough. A plant protein, such as Nutripure Organic Plant Protein, is thicker; add a little more liquid and shake a little longer.
Collagen powders, such as Nutripure Peptan® Collagen, and recovery blends such as Pure Recovery are also very easy to prepare in the shaker. With a well-chilled plant-based drink, the texture becomes creamier; with water at room temperature, the powder disperses more easily.
For a warm drink, let the liquid cool down before closing the shaker: a very hot liquid builds up pressure inside when you shake it, and the lid may then let a few drops escape. Prepare your mix at room temperature instead, then warm it up in a mug if you like it hot.
At the gym, at the office, on the road
At the gym, the shaker slips into your bag with the powder already measured inside, dry. After your session, just add water from the fountain, screw on the lid and shake. The carrying loop lets you hook it onto the bag strap so that it does not tip over among your things.
At the office, it is handy for an afternoon snack, or simply as a graduated water bottle: filling the shaker twice up to the 600 ml line gives you a clear idea of how much you drink during the day. The graduations help you keep an eye on your hydration, an easy habit to adopt when you spend your days sitting down.
When travelling, the empty cup takes up little space and does not fear knocks the way a glass model does. Carry your powder servings in small boxes or resealable bags, and prepare your drink on the spot with bottled water.
Care: the right habits for an odour-free shaker
The golden rule fits in one sentence: rinse the shaker as soon as you have finished drinking. A milk-based drink left at the bottom for several hours, especially in a warm bag, ends up smelling bad. A simple rinse with clean water, lid and ball included, already prevents most problems.
Then wash the three parts separately in hot soapy water, with a bottle brush or a soft sponge to reach the bottom and the thread of the lid. The stainless steel ball is cleaned in a few seconds under the tap. Leave everything to dry taken apart, lid open: a shaker closed while still damp keeps odours.
If a smell sets in anyway, soak the cup overnight in hot water with a spoonful of bicarbonate of soda or a little white vinegar, then rinse thoroughly. Nutripure does not specify whether the shaker is dishwasher-safe: when in doubt, we recommend washing it by hand, which protects the lid seal and keeps the cup clear.
Nutripure, French proteins at Herba Barona

Frequently asked questions
Can I prepare a hot drink in the Nutripure Shaker?
Nutripure states that the shaker withstands cold and heat. However, avoid shaking a very hot liquid with the lid closed: the pressure can push liquid out. Mix at room temperature, then warm the drink up in a mug.
Is the shaker dishwasher-safe?
Nutripure does not say. We recommend washing it by hand in hot soapy water, with the cup, lid and ball separated, then letting it air-dry with the lid open.
How much liquid should I use for a serving of protein?
For a 25 to 30 g serving of powder, 200 to 300 ml of liquid usually works well. The cup is graduated up to 600 ml and holds up to 820 ml. Always check the preparation instructions on the bag of your product.
Where can I buy the Nutripure Shaker in Paris?
At the Herba Barona shop, 10 rue Théophile Roussel, in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, between Ledru-Rollin (line 8) and Bastille (lines 1, 5, 8) metro stations, from Tuesday to Saturday, 9:30 am to 6:30 pm. It is not sent by post: buy it in the shop or order online and collect it there.
Herba Barona’s tip — keep a dry serving of powder in the clean, fully dried shaker at the bottom of your gym bag: after your session, all you have to do is add water and shake.
