A taste of holidays in your water bottle
Some people drink a litre and a half of water a day without even trying, while others leave a full glass on their desk until the evening. Hydrapure is mainly for the second group: two tablets in water, and the glass takes on a soft, slightly tangy tropical fruit taste that makes you want to come back to it.
The flavour comes from a natural tropical fruit flavouring and stays subtle, far from a fizzy soft drink: an over-flavoured drink quickly becomes tiresome when you have several glasses a day. With the effervescence, the water becomes lightly sparkling, which makes it more refreshing.
The tropical flavour particularly appeals to people who like sunny tastes and find red berries too classic. It is also the one people happily choose in summer, when they want a drink that feels more like the beach than the gym.
What two tablets contain
Nutripure gives its values for 2 tablets, i.e. 9.6 g. This dose provides 403 mg of potassium, 307 mg of sodium, 163 mg of calcium, 102 mg of magnesium and 5.1 mg of zinc, 980 mg of minerals in total. Three vitamins are added: 12 mg of vitamin C, 0.21 mg of vitamin B2 and 0.17 mg of vitamin B1.
The minerals come as citrates (potassium, magnesium, calcium), as bicarbonate for sodium and as gluconate for zinc. It is the citrate and bicarbonate, in contact with citric acid, that create the fizz when the tablet drops into the water.
An important point: the formula contains sugar. Cane sugar is the second ingredient, with a little maltodextrin, and the sweetness is rounded off with steviol glycosides. For 2 tablets, that means 1.32 g of sugars and 20 kcal. It is not much, but it is not zero, and it is worth knowing if you keep an eye on your intake. The detailed table is in the Composition tab.
What the minerals and vitamins do
At the dose of 2 tablets, each nutrient below reaches at least 15% of the reference intakes, which allows the claims authorised in Europe to be used. Magnesium contributes to electrolyte balance, to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, to normal functioning of the nervous system and to normal muscle function.
Potassium contributes to normal functioning of the nervous system and to normal muscle function. Calcium also contributes to normal muscle function and to normal energy-yielding metabolism. Zinc contributes to the normal function of the immune system, to normal acid-base metabolism and to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
As for vitamins, vitamin C contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and to the normal function of the immune system. Vitamin B2 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and to normal energy-yielding metabolism, and vitamin B1 to normal energy-yielding metabolism. Sodium has no reference intake: it is the mineral we lose most in sweat, hence its place in the formula.
At the office, travelling, hiking: the right moments
The first use is the simplest: the day’s 2 tablets in a bottle of water, to drink more regularly. Many people prepare their bottle when they wake up, others early in the afternoon, when we most often forget to drink. On busy or very hot days, take a large bottle, up to 800 ml, and sip it.
The tubes are light and rigid, they cope with a rucksack as well as a cabin suitcase. On a plane or train, where the air is dry, two tablets in the bottle bought after security are a good habit. On a hike lasting several days, the tropical taste has the advantage of staying pleasant without becoming cloying, even after several bottles.
For sport, the dose stays the same: 2 tablets, sipped during the session. For efforts lasting over an hour and a half, such as a trail run, a marathon or a long bike ride, dissolve them in a larger volume of water rather than adding more: never more than 2 tablets a day. Our sport and endurance section in Paris brings together other useful products for exercise.
Preparing your drink properly
Nutripure advises dissolving 2 tablets in 250 to 800 ml of water. The range is wide because it mainly depends on the taste you want: in 250 ml, the tropical flavour is clearly marked; in a 750 ml bottle, it becomes light, almost a flavoured water. Start at around 500 ml and adjust.
Drop the tablets into the water before closing the bottle, wait until they have stopped fizzing, then shake gently. Closing a bottle too soon with an effervescent tablet inside means risking it overflowing when you open it.
Close the tube straight after taking your tablets: moisture makes the tablets react with each other. Keep it away from heat, not on the car dashboard in midsummer. Each tube holds 15 tablets, so you can leave one at home and one in your bag.
Tropical fruit or red berries: choosing your flavour in Paris
The formula is identical from one flavour to the other: same minerals, same vitamins, same amounts. What changes is the flavouring and the colourings. The tropical version is coloured with lemon and safflower concentrates and with beetroot juice powder.
The Hydrapure red berries version has a more classic taste, close to a light red-berry cordial. The tropical one is sunnier and a little softer. Some customers of our shop in Paris 12th keep both, to alternate with their mood or the season.
If you like this taste, Nutripure also offers it in its tropical-flavour marine collagen. And for magnesium on its own, separate from hydration, have a look at our magnesium section or at Nutripure Magnesium³ powder.
Precautions for use
Hydrapure is for adults only. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose and keep the tubes out of reach of children, who could mistake them for sweets. Nutripure points out that it is recommended to drink at least 1.5 litres of water a day.
Pregnant or breastfeeding women, older people and people with kidney disease should ask a health professional for advice before starting. If you limit your salt, take the sodium into account: 0.77 g of salt for 2 tablets.
A food supplement should be used as part of a healthy lifestyle and does not replace a varied and balanced diet. The product is made in France by Nutripure, a brand founded in 2017 near Toulouse by Christophe Carrio and his brother Florent.

How many doses are in a pack?
The pack holds 30 tablets in two tubes of 15. That makes 15 days at 2 tablets a day, the daily dose stated on the pack.
Does it taste very sweet?
No, it stays soft and fairly light. If you find it too subtle, use less water; if it seems too strong, add more.
Where can I find Hydrapure tropical fruit in Paris?
At our shop at 10 rue Théophile Roussel, in Paris 12th, near Ledru-Rollin metro station, Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm. Current availability is shown on this page, and an online order can be collected at the shop.
Herba Barona’s tip — slip a tube into the pocket of your rucksack or suitcase, it does not mind being knocked about. In summer, prepare your bottle in the morning with your 2 tablets and 500 ml of cool water: you will sip it until lunchtime without thinking about it.
