Creapure: the purest creatine available

Creapure is the registered trademark for creatine monohydrate made by AlzChem Trostberg GmbH in Germany, using a patented chemical synthesis process that guarantees purity above 99.99%. This process yields creatine with contaminant levels (dicyandiamide, dihydrotriazine, creatinine) well below detectable limits, confirmed by HPLC analysis on every batch — a level of purity that sets Creapure apart from generic creatine, often made in China without the same quality controls.

Dynveo, a French laboratory based in Montpellier, chose Creapure to offer the best creatine available, in line with its focus on transparency and rigour in sourcing raw materials.

How creatine works, and Creapure vs generic creatine

Creatine is naturally present in the body, mainly in skeletal muscle (around 95%), stored as phosphocreatine (PCr); during short, intense efforts (sprints, weight sets, jumps), the body uses ATP as an immediate energy source, which is depleted within seconds and regenerated by phosphocreatine handing off its phosphate group to ADP. Supplementation increases muscle phosphocreatine stores, allowing faster, longer ATP regeneration during intense exercise; EFSA has approved the claim that creatine increases physical performance during successive bouts of short-term, high-intensity exercise, given a daily intake of at least 3 g.

The market offers many creatine forms — monohydrate, ethyl ester, HCl, buffered (Kre-Alkalyn), nitrate and malate — but monohydrate remains the reference form with the strongest scientific backing; within monohydrate itself, Creapure stands out for its verified purity, absence of contaminants, and compliance with the Cologne List for athletes subject to anti-doping testing.

How to use & precautions

The recommended maintenance dose is 3-5 g a day (1 scoop), dissolved in a glass of water or added to a protein shake, at any time of day. A loading phase (20 g a day for 5-7 days) is optional — it saturates muscle stores faster, but the same saturation is reached after 3-4 weeks at the standard maintenance dose. The powder has a neutral taste and dissolves easily; a 250 g tub provides around 80 servings of 3 g, close to 3 months of use.

Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Keep out of reach of young children. Store in a dry place away from heat and light. People with pre-existing kidney disease should consult their doctor before creatine supplementation. In healthy people with normal kidney function, creatine monohydrate is considered safe, with over thirty years of use and hundreds of clinical studies confirming its safety.

Frequently asked questions

Does creatine cause weight gain?

Creatine can cause a slight weight gain of 1-2 kg in the first weeks of supplementation, due to intracellular water retention (water is drawn into muscle cells along with creatine), not fat gain. In the medium to long term, creatine can support muscle mass gain by allowing more intense, higher-volume training — a gain generally welcomed by strength athletes and bodybuilders.

Is Creapure creatine suitable for vegans?

Yes, Creapure creatine is made by chemical synthesis and contains no animal-derived ingredients, making it fully suitable for vegan athletes. Vegans and vegetarians, who don’t eat meat (the main dietary source of creatine), typically have lower muscle creatine stores and often benefit even more from supplementation.

Should creatine be cycled or taken continuously?

Current scientific evidence shows no need to cycle creatine monohydrate (alternating periods of use and rest). Continuous use at the maintenance dose of 3-5 g a day is considered safe and effective long term in healthy people. Some athletes still prefer periodic breaks, but this is more personal preference than scientific necessity.
