Collagen+ SIHO in Paris: vegetarian collagen in capsules, with SOD and ceramosides

Collagen is an animal protein. There is no such thing as plant collagen, and products that claim otherwise are actually collagen “boosters” with no collagen inside. Egg membrane is the only collagen source compatible with a vegetarian diet, since it comes from neither fish nor cattle.

What sets Collagen+ apart from a classic collagen is what surrounds it. Ceramosides are lipids extracted from wheat, cousins of the ceramides naturally present in skin, which take part in the water barrier. Twenty-two milligrams per capsule.

SOD, or superoxide dismutase, is an antioxidant enzyme that the body produces on its own, and whose production declines with age. Fifteen milligrams per capsule. Astaxanthin, the red pigment from algae and crustaceans, is one of the most studied antioxidants for skin; here it is dosed at 30 mg of 5% extract. Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin, and zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal skin, hair and nails. Zinc is in bisglycinate form, the best-absorbed form.
