Marine collagen, the red-berry way
Taking collagen every day often means stirring it into a coffee or a soup so you can forget about it. Nutripure’s raspberry version takes the opposite approach: it turns this daily dose into a genuinely pleasant moment. The powder goes into a glass of water and makes a fruity, slightly tangy drink that recalls a lightly sweetened raspberry cordial.
That is the whole point of this flavour: making regularity easier. A ritual you enjoy is far easier to keep up for a whole month than a dose you put up with. Many people who started with the unflavoured version move on to a fruity flavour for variety, while others choose raspberry from the start because they drink their collagen on its own, with water.
Raspberry is also a widely liked taste: neither too exotic nor too sweet, it goes well with still water, sparkling water or iced tea. In our shop in Paris, it is often the flavour we suggest to people who cannot decide between several.
A raspberry taste: what to expect
The flavour comes from a natural raspberry flavouring. The sweetness is provided by steviol glycosides, a sweetener extracted from the stevia leaf, and the hint of tartness by citric acid. There is no added sugar, no colouring and no maltodextrin in the ingredient list.
In the mouth, the drink is light: you recognise the raspberry from the first sip, with a slightly tangy finish that stops it from feeling syrupy. Marine collagen has a reputation for smelling fishy; this one, Naticol®, has very little smell, and Nutripure describes it as faint. With the flavouring, it goes completely unnoticed.
The intensity depends on how much you dilute it. In 250 ml of water, as the brand recommends, the taste is clear without being strong. If you find it too pronounced, add a little more water; if you like it stronger, reduce to 200 ml. Taste remains a personal matter, and it is the first thing people ask us about at our shop in Paris 12th.
What the 310 g pouch contains
The ingredient list is short: hydrolysed marine collagen peptides, types I and III, from fish, followed by the natural raspberry flavouring, citric acid and steviol glycosides. Collagen makes up most of the powder: a 10 g dose provides 9.5 g of collagen and 8.8 g of protein, with no significant carbohydrates or fat.
Within this protein you find collagen’s signature: 2.2 g of glycine, 0.9 g of proline, 0.5 g of hydroxyproline and 0.1 g of hydroxylysine per dose. Collagen is not a complete protein: it complements a varied diet and does not replace meat, eggs or a classic protein powder.
One detail worth knowing: the 310 g pouch contains no vitamin C, unlike the tub of the same flavour and the exotic version. Collagen itself has no authorised health claim in Europe, so we describe this product for what it is: a pleasant-tasting source of collagen. The full table is in the Composition tab on this page.
Naticol®: wild fish, a powder that dissolves quickly
Nutripure uses Naticol®, a patented marine collagen made from the skin of wild fish caught in European waters. Only three non-endangered species are used, and the fishery is Friend of the Sea certified. The brand states full traceability, from the boat to the pouch.
The collagen is broken down by enzymatic hydrolysis into small peptides of about 2000 daltons. That explains the texture: the powder disperses in a few seconds in cold water, with no lumps and no residue at the bottom of the glass. Naticol® also stays stable in an acidic drink, which suits a tangy fruit flavour like raspberry well.
The product is made in France, in line with the EN 17444 anti-doping standard. For this 310 g size, Nutripure states that the peptides are of EU origin.
Raspberry drink ideas
The basic recipe is simple: a 10 g dose, about 80% of the 30 ml scoop provided, in 250 ml of water, then a few seconds in a shaker or with a spoon. Nutripure recommends 10 to 20 g a day, with a meal or after training. The pouch contains 31 doses of 10 g, i.e. one month at the basic amount.
For variety, try the sparkling version: the dose in well-chilled sparkling water, with a few mint leaves and ice cubes. A slice of lime turns it into a very refreshing raspberry lemonade. Raspberry also pairs well with a cold green tea or rooibos, an apple juice topped up with water, or a banana and red-berry smoothie. With a vanilla whey shake, you get a raspberries-and-cream taste.
In winter, the powder dissolves in lukewarm water, like a fruit infusion. It can also flavour a plain fromage frais or yoghurt, as long as you stir it in well. Avoid coffee and savoury dishes, though: for those, the unflavoured version is a better fit. In Paris 12th, the raspberry-mint lemonade is the recipe we are happiest to share.
Unflavoured, exotic or raspberry: which Nutripure marine collagen to choose?
All three versions are based on the same Naticol® collagen. The unflavoured marine collagen in a 310 g pouch has no flavouring or sweetener: it slips into anything, from coffee to porridge, without changing the taste. It also comes in a 150 g pouch for a first try.
The flavoured versions are drunk on their own, with water. The exotic flavour plays on pineapple and mango, with added vitamin C; raspberry is gentler and more classic, with no vitamin C in this size. The choice comes down mainly to taste and to how you take your collagen: in your food, or as a drink.
Some people even alternate between the two: the unflavoured one in their morning coffee, raspberry as an afternoon drink. Our collagen section in Paris brings together other marine and bovine products, and Nutripure suggests pairing its collagen with its crystallised glycine, the most abundant amino acid in collagen.
Precautions and storage
This product contains fish: it is not suitable for people with a fish allergy. Traces of gluten, egg, soy, milk and celery are possible. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake of 20 g and keep the pouch out of reach of children.
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medication, ask your doctor for advice before starting. A food supplement should be used as part of a healthy lifestyle and is not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet.
A flavoured powder readily absorbs moisture. Close the zip tightly after each use, keep the dry scoop inside the pouch and store it in a cool cupboard, away from the kettle. The best-before date and batch number are on the back of the pouch.
Frequently asked questions
Does raspberry marine collagen taste of fish?
No. Naticol® has a faint smell, and the natural raspberry flavouring dominates. The drink tastes fruity and slightly tangy.
Does it contain sugar?
There is no added sugar: the sweetness comes from steviol glycosides, derived from stevia.
How long does a 310 g pouch last?
One month at 10 g a day, i.e. 31 doses, or about two weeks at 20 g a day, the upper amount suggested by Nutripure.
Where can I find it in Paris?
At our shop at 10 rue Théophile Roussel, in Paris 12th, near Ledru-Rollin metro station (line 8), Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm. You can also order it here and collect it in store. Current stock is shown on this page.
Herba Barona’s tip — for a really refreshing glass, prepare your dose the evening before in a small bottle of water and leave it in the fridge: the next day the powder is perfectly dissolved, and raspberry tastes even better well chilled.
