Joints are complex structures whose proper function depends on the quality of cartilage, tendons, ligaments and synovial fluid. Silicon plays a role in the synthesis of collagen and glycosaminoglycans, two essential components of joint cartilage. Collagen and elastin are the two proteins that give skin its firmness and elasticity. With age, production of these proteins declines, resulting in skin slackening and wrinkles. Silicon is an important cofactor in the synthesis of these proteins, and supplementation may help support the body’s natural collagen and elastin production. Keratin, the main protein in hair and nails, also benefits from silicon’s presence in the body — those noticing nail fragility, reduced hair density or dull hair may be interested in organic silicon G5 as part of a suitable care routine. Recommended dose is 30ml a day (one measuring cap), taken neat or diluted in a glass of water, preferably in the morning on an empty stomach to optimise absorption. What is the difference between organic and mineral silicon?

Mineral silicon is the most common form found in nature (sand, quartz), but it is very poorly absorbed by the human body as it is insoluble in water. Organic silicon, such as the monomethylsilanetriol found in G5, is a molecule where silicon is bound to a carbon group, making it water-soluble and directly assimilable by human cells — significantly more bioavailable than mineral silicon.

How long before I notice the effects of Silicium G5?

The first effects on joint comfort are generally reported after two to four weeks of regular use. For effects on skin, hair and nails, six to eight weeks are usually needed, as these tissues renew naturally. A minimum course of two to three months is recommended to fully appreciate organic silicon supplementation.
