Molecularly, caffeine is identical whether natural or synthetic. Natural caffeine from green coffee, however, comes with plant cofactors (polyphenols, chlorogenic acids, trigonelline) absent from synthetic caffeine, which some users find gives a more gradual, sustained energy feel with less digestive discomfort than roasted coffee.
