The 800 g tub: citrulline in a large size
This white tub contains exactly the same powder as the 220 g pouch of Nutripure L-Citrulline: only the quantity changes. It is meant for people who have already taken citrulline, who know they will take it again, and who would rather keep a supply for several months than buy a new pouch every month.
On the label, Nutripure states about 114 servings of 7 g. At the basic amount, one tub therefore covers on its own the course of at least three months that the brand recommends, with some to spare. If you take the higher amount of 14 g, count on half as many days.
The container has its advantages too. A rigid tub with a screw lid stands upright, does not tear, and lets the scoop in without having to dig your hand into the bottom of a pouch. It is a small detail, but over three months of daily use, you come to appreciate it.
A powder that contains nothing but L-citrulline
The ingredient list fits on one line: Kyowa Quality® L-citrulline, of US origin. There is no malate, no flavouring, no sweetener, no colouring and no anti-caking agent. On Nutripure’s website, the value per 100 g is simple: 100 g of L-citrulline, 0 g of fat, 0 g of carbohydrates.
Citrulline is an amino acid found naturally in watermelon, from which it takes its name. This one is obtained by fermenting a glucose syrup made from non-GMO maize, using the process of the Japanese manufacturer Kyowa. On its label, Nutripure presents it as an amino acid that is a precursor of L-arginine, entirely derived from fermentation and 100% plant-based.
According to the brand’s quality sheet, the powder is vegan, has no allergens to declare, is GMO-free, non-irradiated and free from nanoparticles. The citrulline is not organic: Nutripure says so itself on its transparency sheet.
Measuring by the scoop: from 7 to 14 g a day
That is the whole point of a powder: you choose your amount. The tub comes with a 10 ml scoop. Nutripure recommends taking one and a half scoops, i.e. 7 g, to three scoops, i.e. 14 g, a day, mixed in a shaker with 250 ml of water.
The brand recommends splitting this into two servings during the day, for example one before training and the other with a meal, or morning and evening on rest days. Starting with the basic amount lets you see how well you tolerate it before moving up to the higher amount.
A tip if you like to be precise: weigh your level scoop once on a kitchen scale. You will know exactly what your usual gesture represents, and you will not need to think about it again. A Nutripure shaker is all you need for a smooth mix in a few seconds.
Quite a pleasant taste, in water or in a sports drink
An unflavoured powder often puts people off. Yet powdered citrulline actually tastes rather good: a discreet flavour that you can drink without grimacing in a simple glass of cool water. Nutripure describes it as a neutral taste, with no chemical additives.
Since it adds neither sugar nor flavour, it slips easily into other drinks. You can add it to your sports bottle, to a fruit juice topped up with water, or to a hydration drink such as Nutripure’s red-berry Hydrapure. On its label, the brand also suggests combining it with maltodextrin, with BCAAs or with a natural flavouring.
The powder dissolves well in cold water. A few seconds in the shaker are enough, and you can drink it straight away.
220 g pouch or 800 g tub: how to choose
The 220 g pouch is the right size to try it out: around thirty servings at the basic amount, enough to find out whether citrulline has a place in your routine. The 800 g tub takes over once the decision is made and you are following a course of several months.
Nutripure also makes a capsule version. Capsules are practical when you are on the move; the powder, on the other hand, lets you go up to 14 g a day without swallowing a handful of capsules, and adjust the amount to the gram. For regular athletes, the brand actually recommends the powder version.
Our citrulline in powder or capsules section brings together the different products we offer. In its sports range, Nutripure also makes CarnoSyn® beta-alanine, another amino acid in powder form, and you will find the rest of our amino acids in the same place.
Nutripure, manufacturing and precautions
Nutripure is a French brand founded in 2017 by Christophe Carrio, five-time world champion in artistic karate and holder of a diploma in dietetics, together with his brother Florent, an engineer. The company is based in Deyme, in Haute-Garonne, near Toulouse. The citrulline is made in France, and the product was developed and manufactured in accordance with the EN 17444 anti-doping standard on the production date of the batch.
Do not exceed the recommended daily intake of 14 g and keep the tub out of reach of children. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medication, ask your doctor for advice before starting. A food supplement should be used as part of a healthy lifestyle and is not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet.
A pure powder quickly absorbs moisture. Screw the lid back on tightly after each use, keep the scoop dry and store the tub in a cool, dry place away from light, well away from the kettle. The best-before date and batch number are printed on the bottom of the tub.

Frequently asked questions
How long does an 800 g tub last?
Nutripure states about 114 servings of 7 g, i.e. more than three months at the basic amount. At 14 g a day, the higher amount, the tub lasts about half as long.
Is the powder in the tub the same as in the pouch?
Yes. It is the same Kyowa Quality® L-citrulline, with no other ingredient. Only the quantity and the container change.
When should I take it?
Nutripure recommends taking it before training or with meals, preferably in two servings a day. On rest days, morning and evening are fine.
Where can I buy it in Paris?
At our shop in Paris 12th, 10 rue Théophile Roussel, Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm. Nutripure products are sold in store only: buy them at the shop, or order online and collect them in store.
Herba Barona’s tip — write the opening date on the lid with a marker. On a tub that lasts several months, it is the simplest way to keep track of where you are in your course, and to check at a glance that you are still well before the best-before date printed on the bottom of the tub.
