How to Take Shilajit: Dose, Time, Duration

Publié le 27/10/26 · Herba Barona, Paris 12e

Shilajit résine pure Feel Pure, shilajit pur Dynveo et chilagite en gélules SIHO, Herba Barona Paris 12e

You’ve just bought your first jar of shilajit, or you’re still hesitating, and one question stops you: how is it used? How much to take, at what time of day, and for how long? The answers change a little depending on whether you’ve chosen resin or capsules, and depending on the brand. Here’s what the labels of our products say, and what we explain at the counter. All our products are on the shilajit in Paris page.

Feel Pure pure shilajit resin, Dynveo pure shilajit and SIHO shilajit capsules, Herba Barona Paris 12th
Resin or capsules: the dose and timing change slightly depending on the form.

Shilajit in two words

Shilajit is a black, sticky substance that seeps from high-mountain rocks, in the Himalayas or the Altai. It has been used for centuries in the Indian Ayurvedic tradition. Once purified, it’s sold in two forms: resin, hard when cold and pliable to the touch, and dry extract capsules.

On the label, the figure to look at is the fulvic acid content, shown as a percentage. It varies between products: at least 75% for Feel Pure resin, 79% for SIHO resin, at least 60% for Dynveo capsules. If you want to learn how to spot a genuine product, our article how to recognise pure shilajit covers the tests that matter.

Resin: dosing and dissolving

Resin requires a small step, but nothing complicated. Each jar comes with a measuring spoon.

For Feel Pure pure resin, the stated dose is 0.3 to 0.5 g a day with the supplied spoon. It’s dissolved in a hot drink, not exceeding 40°C, or left to melt under the tongue. The 30 g jar lasts about two months. For SIHO pure resin, a measuring spoon of about 500 mg is dissolved in a glass of warm water, milk or plant-based drink.

Three practical tips:

  • Never boiling water: stay below 40°C, warm to the finger.
  • Take your time: the resin takes a while to dissolve, stir for a few moments.
  • The taste is strong, earthy. A little milk or plant-based drink softens it.

Capsules: simple, with no taste

Capsules remove the preparation and the taste. Their dose is fixed, which reassures beginners.

Dynveo’s pure shilajit is taken as one 500 mg capsule of extract a day, with a large glass of water, with a meal, in the morning or at midday. Its extract, harvested on the Himalayan plateau, is purified with water and put into a vegetable capsule with no silica or excipient. SIHO chilagite capsules are taken two at a time, in the morning on an empty stomach, with a glass of water. At Feel Pure, it’s one to two capsules in the morning, with a glass of water.

If you’re still torn between the two forms, our article shilajit in resin or capsules compares their advantages point by point.

What time of day?

Most often in the morning. For resin, both brands recommend taking it preferably in the morning on an empty stomach. For capsules, Dynveo prefers the morning or midday meal, SIHO the morning on an empty stomach, Feel Pure the morning. If your stomach is sensitive, taking it at breakfast is the most comfortable option.

The key is to keep the same time every day, so you don’t forget. A common mistake: taking the dose “whenever you remember”, one day in the morning, one day in the evening, and doubling it the next day after a missed dose. Never double a dose.

How long does a course last?

Shilajit is used in courses, not on and off. According to the labels, duration ranges from one to three months for resins, 8 to 12 weeks for Dynveo capsules, at least 4 to 6 weeks for SIHO capsules, and three months for Feel Pure capsules. The course can then be renewed according to your needs.

As for precautions, manufacturers are clear: shilajit is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women or for children. If you’re on treatment or have a chronic condition, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice first. And don’t exceed the stated daily dose.

Frequently asked questions

Can shilajit be added to tea or coffee?

In a hot drink, yes, as long as it doesn’t exceed 40°C. Let your tea cool before dissolving the resin in it.

How much does a dose of resin weigh?

From 0.3 to 0.5 g for Feel Pure, about 500 mg for SIHO: in both cases, one measuring spoon. Use the one supplied with the jar rather than a kitchen spoon.

How should resin be stored?

Jar well closed, away from heat and moisture. If it hardens in the cold, that’s normal: it becomes pliable again at room temperature.

Can resin and capsules be alternated?

Nothing stops you, for example resin at home and capsules while travelling. Just don’t combine both on the same day.
