Why Altai shilajit rather than Himalayan?
Shilajit immediately brings the Himalayas to mind, yet much Himalayan shilajit actually comes from Pakistan or China, where harvesting conditions and traceability can be hard to verify. For Herba Barona, the choice fell on Altai shilajit after testing and comparing six samples from different origins — Nepal, India, Pakistan, Russia and Kazakhstan. The Kazakh shilajit stood out for its purity, fulvic acid concentration and the transparency of its producer. The Altai mountains, on the border between Kazakhstan, Russia, Mongolia and China, are a preserved region, far from any settlement or industrial pollution, ensuring a naturally pure product.
Harvest & natural purification
SIHO shilajit is harvested at an altitude of around 2,700 metres in the Altai mountains, gathered by hand by local teams who know the terrain and natural deposits intimately. Once harvested, the raw shilajit undergoes an entirely natural purification process: it is washed eight times with spring water, then left to settle to remove mineral sediment and impurities. This gentle process preserves the full range of active compounds, notably fulvic and humic acids, minerals and trace elements — no chemical solvents or additives are used at any stage, guaranteeing a 100% natural product.
Rich in minerals & trace elements
Shilajit naturally contains over 85 minerals and trace elements in a bioactive form the body can readily use, including iron, zinc, magnesium, copper, selenium and manganese. The fulvic acids in shilajit act as a natural carrier, helping deliver these minerals to the cells, while the humic acids also present in significant quantity add to the richness of the mineral complex and contribute to the product’s overall quality.
Traditional use for vitality, bones & wellbeing
In Ayurvedic tradition, shilajit has been used as a general tonic for millennia. Its fulvic acids are traditionally associated with supporting cellular energy production within the mitochondria, and shilajit is also valued for its traditional role in fat and sugar metabolism, supporting healthy pancreatic function; many people include it in their daily routine to accompany vitality and energy, particularly around seasonal changes or periods of passing tiredness. Shilajit is also traditionally associated with supporting bone density and stimulating type I collagen production, a major component of the bone matrix, and is valued in the realm of men’s wellbeing, where it is traditionally used to support testosterone production and sperm quality. These traditional, ancestral uses are the subject of growing scientific interest, with ongoing research seeking to better understand shilajit’s mechanisms of action.
Quality, transparency & certificates of analysis
SIHO takes pride in guaranteeing the quality and traceability of its shilajit — every batch is tested by an independent laboratory, and certificates of analysis are available on request, verifying fulvic acid concentration, the absence of heavy metals, and compliance with current European standards. Working directly with the Kazakh producer, Herba Barona ensures a short, transparent supply chain with no intermediaries, for the best possible value.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between shilajit resin and shilajit capsules?
Resin is the purest, most concentrated form, undergoing no further processing (no dehydration, no added excipients). Capsules generally contain dehydrated shilajit blended with shaping agents. Resin therefore offers a higher concentration of active compounds and more direct assimilation. Both forms are available at Herba Barona to suit every preference.
How long does a 30g jar of SIHO shilajit last?
At one 500 mg scoop a day, a 30 g jar provides around 60 days of use. This may vary depending on the dosage used. For first-time use, it is advisable to start with half a scoop during the first week to let the body adjust.
Is SIHO shilajit compatible with other food supplements?
Shilajit is generally compatible with most food supplements and is often paired with magnesium, zinc or B-vitamin courses. However, if in doubt or taking medication, consult a healthcare professional. Our team at Herba Barona is on hand to help with your supplementation choices.
