Oregano (Origanum vulgare) is a perennial aromatic plant from the mint family, native to the Mediterranean basin. Its name means “joy of the mountain” in ancient Greek, and while its culinary use is well known, its essential oil is prized in herbal medicine for its rich phenolic compound content. Each capsule delivers 50mg of organic oregano essential oil, naturally rich in carvacrol (around 47%) and thymol (around 15%), two phenols traditionally associated with supporting the body’s natural defences.

Oregano essential oil is one of the best-known herbal options for supporting natural defences, particularly popular heading into autumn and winter. It is also traditionally used, since antiquity, to support digestive comfort and a harmonious digestion. Carvacrol additionally carries recognised antioxidant properties, helping neutralise free radicals and supporting overall cellular wellbeing.

Take 1 to 3 capsules per day with a glass of water, ideally with meals: 1 to 2 capsules a day for a 7 to 10 day course to support natural defences; 1 capsule a day during vulnerable winter periods; or 1 capsule with a meal for digestive comfort. As oregano essential oil is potent, follow the recommended course length and dosage.

Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Not recommended for children under 6. Do not use for extended periods without advice from a healthcare professional. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a dry place, away from light and heat, between 15 and 25°C. What is carvacrol and why does it matter?

Carvacrol is the main phenol in oregano essential oil, present at around 47% in Organic Oregano by Be-Life. It carries recognised antioxidant properties and is traditionally associated with supporting the body’s natural defences, acting as a protective element for cells against oxidative stress.

Are oregano capsules more effective than oregano tea?

Organic Oregano capsules by Be-Life contain concentrated essential oil, with a carvacrol and thymol content well above that of a simple tea. Encapsulation allows a precise dose (50mg per capsule) and protects the volatile active compounds that would partly be lost when brewing an infusion.

Can organic oregano be taken continuously?

Oregano essential oil is potent, and we recommend limited courses (7 to 10 days when used intensively, or 3 to 4 weeks as a preventive measure). Extended use without advice from a healthcare professional is not recommended.
