Whey Isolate Hazelnut Nutripure in Paris: native whey with a hazelnut taste
Nutripure’s native whey isolate with natural hazelnut flavouring, sweetened with stevia: 24 g of protein per 30 g serving. Available in Paris at Herba Barona, from the Nutripure range.
A native whey isolate, the indulgent version
“Native” means the protein is obtained directly from milk, not as a by-product of cheese making: the milk is cold-filtered, without heating or acidification. “Isolate” means most of the fat and a good part of the lactose have been removed. The result is a lean, protein-rich powder that dissolves quickly in a shaker.
Nutripure is a French brand founded in 2017 by Christophe Carrio, five-time world champion in artistic karate and trained in dietetics, and his brother Florent, an engineer. The company is based in Haute-Garonne, near Toulouse, and manufactures in France.
What a 30 g serving provides
One 30 g serving (two and a half scoops) provides 24 g of protein for 113 kcal, with 0.4 g of fat and 2.9 g of carbohydrate, including 1.7 g of sugars naturally present in milk.
On a dry-matter basis, protein reaches 86%. Per 100 g of powder, Nutripure reports 20.8 g of BCAAs and 43.9 g of essential amino acids, including 11.1 g of leucine. They all come from the milk itself: none are added.
Protein contributes to a growth in muscle mass, to the maintenance of muscle mass and to the maintenance of normal bones. These are the only claims we make for this product.
Hazelnut or plain: which one to choose
Nutripure also makes a plain Whey Isolate Native, with no flavouring or sweetener. They are two distinct products. The plain version is slightly more concentrated in protein and contains less than 0.2 g of lactose per 100 g: it suits people who digest lactose poorly, or savoury recipes.
The hazelnut version has a little less protein per serving, since part of the weight goes to flavouring and sweetener, and it keeps some lactose, with added lactase. In return, it can be drunk as it is, with water, with a real taste. Our whey isolate section brings together all the isolates we have selected.
Taste and everyday use
The natural flavouring gives a toasted note, close to a lightly sweetened hazelnut spread, stronger on the nose than in the mouth. With water the drink stays light; with plant milk it becomes rounder. Sweetness comes only from steviol glycosides (stevia): no sucralose, no acesulfame, no added sugar.
Pour 200 ml of room-temperature water or plant milk into a shaker, add 30 g of powder and shake for at least 20 seconds. Nutripure suggests 30 to 60 g a day depending on your needs: at breakfast, as a snack or after training. Like many isolates, the powder foams: let it rest for a minute before drinking.
The 750 g bag holds 25 servings of 30 g, a little under a month at one serving a day.
Allergens, lactose and our shop in Paris
Contains milk, its main ingredient, and lactose. A lactase has been added, but Nutripure states that this version is not suitable for people who are lactose intolerant, nor for people allergic to milk proteins.
Despite its name, the ingredients contain no hazelnut: the taste comes from a natural flavouring, and nuts are not among the declared allergens. May contain traces of gluten, eggs, soy, fish and celery. Suitable for vegetarians. Keep dry, with the bag tightly closed. Developed and made in France in line with the EN 17444 anti-doping standard.
Herba Barona has been a food supplement shop at 10 rue Théophile Roussel, Paris 12th, since 2006, open Tuesday to Saturday, 9.30 am to 6.30 pm. See also our whey and protein sections.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference with Nutripure’s Whey Isolate Native?
The base is the same native whey, but the hazelnut version contains natural flavouring, stevia and lactose, with slightly less protein per serving. The plain version is unflavoured and almost lactose-free.
Does it contain real hazelnut?
No, the taste comes from a natural hazelnut-flavour aroma. Nuts are not among the allergens declared by the brand.
Can I take it on days without training?
Yes. A serving at breakfast or as a snack adds protein to your day, whether you train or not.
Where can I find it in Paris?
At Herba Barona, 10 rue Théophile Roussel, Paris 12th, Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30 am to 6.30 pm, near Ledru-Rollin (line 8) and Bastille (lines 1, 5, 8) metro stations.
