Buy Tibetan Goji Berries: an antioxidant-rich Himalayan superfruit

Tibetan goji berries are among the most sought-after superfruits in the world, a staple of Asian food tradition for centuries. Available at our Paris shop, with Click & Collect and delivery across France and Europe.

Grown on the Tibetan plateau

Tibetan goji (Lycium barbarum) grows naturally in sheltered valleys of the Tibetan highlands, between 2,500 and 4,000 metres altitude — conditions that produce exceptionally nutrient-dense berries. The wide day-night temperature swing at these altitudes stimulates the plant’s production of protective compounds. The berries are traditionally hand-harvested in summer at full ripeness, then sun-dried, an age-old practice that preserves their nutritional properties while ensuring a long shelf life.

Nutritional profile

Tibetan goji berries have a remarkably complete nutritional profile: a good level of natural vitamin C, carotenoids (zeaxanthin, beta-carotene, lutein) responsible for their orange-red colour and prized for their antioxidant power, and minerals including iron, zinc, selenium and copper. They also contain distinctive polysaccharides known as LBPs (Lycium Barbarum Polysaccharides), the subject of extensive scientific research, plus around 12% plant protein and 18 amino acids, including all 8 essential ones.

How to enjoy goji berries daily

Recommended intake: 20–30 g a day, about a small handful. Eat them straight from the bag for their delicately sweet, slightly tangy flavour, sprinkle over muesli, cereal or yoghurt at breakfast, blend into a smoothie, or use in savoury cooking — salads, rice dishes, soups. To rehydrate, soak in a little warm water for 10–15 minutes; they regain a plump, juicy texture close to fresh fruit, and the soaking water, rich in soluble nutrients, can be drunk or used in a recipe.

How to use & precautions

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct light, re-sealed tightly after opening; well stored, dried goji berries keep for several months.

Do not exceed 30 g per day. People on anticoagulant treatment should consult a healthcare professional before regular use. People allergic to nightshades (tomatoes, peppers, aubergines) should exercise caution. Pregnant women should seek medical advice first. This product is not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet.

Frequently asked questions

What makes Tibetan goji different from other goji berries?

Its high-altitude terroir, above 2,500 m, gives it a generally higher nutrient concentration than lowland-grown varieties — the extreme climate (cold, intense UV, mineral-rich soil) stimulates the plant’s production of protective compounds, especially polysaccharides and carotenoids.

Can goji berries be eaten every day?

Yes, as part of a varied, balanced diet, at 20–30 g a day. Start with a small amount and increase gradually. If you take specific medication, ask your healthcare professional for advice.

Are goji berries suitable for vegetarians and vegans?

Yes — they are a 100% plant-based dried fruit, naturally compatible with vegetarian and vegan diets, and a useful source of plant protein and essential amino acids.
