A granola of buckwheat and seeds, in seven ingredients

Nutripure’s Pure Granola Multigrain starts from a simple idea: to put in a pouch what you would make at home with good raw ingredients. The list fits in seven words: buckwheat, date, rice protein, pumpkin seed, sunflower seed, chia seed and brown flax seed. All of them come from organic farming.

Buckwheat is the base, making up 56.9% of the recipe. Pumpkin and sunflower seeds (3.6% each), chia (2.2%) and brown flax (2.1%) bring their crunch and their nutty taste. The date acts as the binder: it is what gathers the seeds into large clusters, with no added sugar, syrup or honey. Rice protein completes the mix.

Nutripure is a French brand founded in 2017 by Christophe Carrio, five-time world champion in artistic karate and holder of a diploma in dietetics, together with his brother Florent, an engineer. The company is based in Haute-Garonne, near Toulouse, and its granola is made in a workshop in south-west France. It has joined the Nutripure shelf of our shop in Paris 12th, next to the brand’s sweet potato flour.

Buckwheat, a seed rather than a cereal

It is sometimes called “black wheat” in French, but buckwheat has nothing to do with wheat. It is the seed of a plant from the same family as sorrel and rhubarb, grown for a long time in Brittany for savoury pancakes. It is grouped with cereals in the kitchen because it is used like them: as grains, flakes or flour.

In this granola, buckwheat provides the texture: firm grains that crunch between the teeth and a slightly toasted taste, more pronounced than the oats of ordinary mueslis. Nutripure explains that its ingredients are mixed and then baked to obtain this crispness, with a baking process it describes as gentle, at low temperature.

Each seed adds its own note. Pumpkin and sunflower bring a mellow, nutty flavour; chia and flax, tiny grains that find their way all through the bowl. This is the most “natural” of Nutripure’s granolas: no chocolate, no dried fruit, no tree nuts in the recipe, just seeds and the sweetness of dates.

What 100 g of Pure Granola Multigrain provides

According to Nutripure’s Composition tab, 100 g of multigrain granola provides 370 kcal, 7.3 g of fat including 1.2 g of saturates, 49 g of carbohydrate including 17.2 g of sugars, 7.6 g of fibre, 16 g of protein and 0.08 g of salt. The full details, including the theoretical values for minerals, vitamins and amino acids, are in the Composition tab of this page.

These values make it a food that is a source of fibre and a source of protein. These are the only two nutrition claims we use, and we leave it there: it is a breakfast food, not a food supplement, and it should be judged on its composition, its taste and the way it is eaten.

The sugars it contains come from the ingredients themselves, mainly the date: the recipe contains no cane sugar, no syrup and no honey. A 45 g portion, the amount Nutripure recommends, makes a well-filled bowl. The 350 g pouch holds about seven of them.

Certified organic and made in France

All the ingredients of Pure Granola Multigrain come from organic farming. The pouch carries the French AB logo and the European organic logo, and the multigrain granola is listed by name on Nutripure’s organic certificate issued by Ecocert France (FR-BIO-01). The raw materials come from inside and outside the EU, as stated on the brand’s traceability sheet.

It is made in France, in a workshop in south-west France. Nutripure describes its process as artisanal rather than industrial: the ingredients are mixed, then baked to form large crunchy clusters. The recipe contains no preservative, no additive and no flavouring.

The granola comes in a 350 g kraft pouch. Once opened, the brand recommends transferring it to an airtight container and keeping it in a cool, dry place, so that the buckwheat does not go soft.

At breakfast, as an afternoon snack or after training

The simplest way to eat it, which Nutripure calls “Pure Granola gourmand”: 45 g of granola in a bowl with 200 to 250 ml of plant-based drink poured over it. Oat, almond, rice or soy, everyone picks their own. A yoghurt, plant-based or not, works just as well.

For athletes, the brand suggests a “Pure Granola sportif” version: in a shaker, mix 200 to 250 ml of plant-based drink with 30 g of whey, then pour this shake over 50 g of granola. The Nutripure Whey Isolate Native is the one the brand pairs with its recipe; if you do not consume dairy products, an organic plant protein does the same job.

The granola also lends itself to variations: fresh seasonal fruit, a few raspberries in summer, a grated apple in winter, or a small dose of Nutripure natural flavouring in the plant-based drink for a change of taste. Nutripure suggests three moments: breakfast, the afternoon snack and after training.

Vegan and gluten-free: what the label says

The recipe contains no ingredient of animal origin: Pure Granola Multigrain is vegan, as Nutripure states. It is therefore suitable for people who eat no milk, eggs or honey, provided it is served with a plant-based drink.

Nutripure presents it as naturally gluten-free: its base is buckwheat, which is not a gluten cereal, and none of the seven ingredients contains gluten. The brand’s sheet does not mention traces of gluten. If you must avoid gluten strictly, we invite you to read the label on the pouch in the shop before buying.

The label does, however, mention possible traces of tree nuts, peanuts and sesame, linked to the production workshop. The granola is therefore not recommended for people allergic to these foods, even though the multigrain recipe itself contains none.

Who it is for, and where to find it in Paris

This granola is for people who want a breakfast made of simple ingredients, with a list you can read in ten seconds: athletes preparing their bowl before or after a session, families looking for a granola for their children with no sugar or syrup in the recipe, or simply buckwheat lovers. For our customers in Paris 12th who train, it naturally finds its place next to our sport and endurance section.

Nutripure reserves the sale of this product to the shop, with no shipping. You can pick it up directly at 10 rue Théophile Roussel, or order it on the website and collect it in store. Quantities are limited: current availability is shown on this page.

Nutripure makes its granola in three versions: multigrain, chocolate and banana cashew. All the brand’s products available in Paris are gathered on our Nutripure page.

Frequently asked questions

Does Pure Granola Multigrain contain added sugar?

No: the recipe contains no sugar, no syrup and no honey. The 17.2 g of sugars per 100 g come from the ingredients, mainly the date, which binds the seeds together.

What is the difference with the chocolate version?

The multigrain version is based on buckwheat and four seeds (pumpkin, sunflower, chia, flax). The chocolate version replaces these seeds with dark chocolate chips and almonds: it is more indulgent, the multigrain one more natural.

How many portions are in the pouch?

About seven portions of 45 g, the amount Nutripure recommends for a bowl with 200 to 250 ml of plant-based drink.

Where can I find it in Paris?

At 10 rue Théophile Roussel, in Paris 12th, Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 to 18:30, between Ledru-Rollin (line 8) and Bastille (lines 1, 5 and 8) metro stations. It is not sent by post: buy it in the shop or order online and collect it in store.

Herba Barona’s tip — pour the plant-based drink well chilled at the last moment and eat straight away: the buckwheat stays crunchy. If you prefer a softer texture, let the bowl rest for five minutes.
