One powder, one ingredient
The label of Nutripure creatine powder fits on one line: Creapure® creatine monohydrate. There is no flavouring, no sweetener, no sugar and no bulking agent. The 150 g kraft pouch contains a fine white powder with no distinct taste, together with a measuring scoop.
The daily dose recommended by Nutripure is 3.4 g of creatine monohydrate, which corresponds to 3 g of creatine itself: the difference comes from the water molecule bound to creatine in its monohydrate form. The pouch therefore provides about 44 doses, a little over six weeks of daily use.
A single-ingredient product has a simple advantage: you know exactly what you are taking and how much. You can add it to an existing routine, mix it into your usual drink or combine it with other supplements without wondering what the other components of a blend bring.
Creapure®, a creatine produced in Germany
Creapure® is the name of a creatine monohydrate made in Germany, in a dedicated plant that works to food and pharmaceutical industry standards. Each batch is analysed to check its purity and the absence of unwanted by-products of synthesis, such as dicyandiamide or dihydrotriazine. It is the raw material most often cited when people talk about quality creatine.
Creapure® creatine is obtained by synthesis, without any material of animal origin, so it is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. It is also kosher and halal certified. Nutripure packs it in France and publishes a traceability sheet for this product.
The product also complies with the EN 17444 anti-doping standard, a European reference that governs the development and manufacture of supplements for athletes in order to prevent the presence of prohibited substances. This matters for competitors who are subject to testing.
Creatine: what we know, what is authorised
Creatine is a molecule that the body makes itself from three amino acids, and that food also provides, mainly through meat and fish. About 95% of the body’s creatine is found in the muscles, partly in the form of phosphocreatine. A varied diet provides around one gram a day, much less for vegetarians.
It is one of the most studied sports supplements, and one of the few to have a health claim authorised by the European Union. Its official wording is as follows: Creatine increases physical performance in successive bursts of short-term, high intensity exercise. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 3 g of creatine.
In practice, this concerns intense, repeated efforts: weight-training sets, sprints, combat sports, team sports with bursts of acceleration. It is the only promise we make here, in the exact authorised terms. The 3.4 g dose of monohydrate proposed by Nutripure provides precisely these 3 g of creatine a day.
How to take creatine powder
Nutripure recommends 3.4 g a day, mixed into a glass of water or a shaker. The powder dissolves well in water, and its neutral taste also lets you add it to a juice, a smoothie or your protein shake, for example a Nutripure Whey Isolate Native after training.
The time of day matters little: creatine works by building up in the muscle, not as a product with an immediate effect. What matters is taking it every day, including rest days. You can also split the dose over the day if you prefer. While taking it, Nutripure advises drinking at least 1.5 L of water a day.
The brand recommends 3-month courses, possibly followed by a 1- to 2-month break; people who train four times a week or more can take it all year round. No loading phase is needed: at 3 g a day, muscle stores fill up gradually over a few weeks. It is the question we are asked most often in our shop in Paris.
Powder or capsules: how to choose
The creatine is exactly the same in both formats: Creapure® monohydrate, dosed at 3 g of creatine a day. Only the presentation changes. The powder is the most economical option per dose and the most flexible: you add it to any drink, and the pouch lasts more than six weeks.
Capsules are better suited if you travel often, if you do not want to measure anything or if you prefer not to mix anything: five capsules make up the daily dose. If that is your case, Nutripure creatine in capsules is the pill-jar version of this same product.
To compare with other brands, in a larger pouch or in micronised form, browse our creatine section: it brings together the products we offer in our shop in Paris 12th.
What to combine it with
Creatine combines easily with other sports products. Many people take it in the same glass as Nutripure CarnoSyn® Beta-Alanine, another single-ingredient product from the brand, or add it to their post-workout drink. Simply check whether your other products already contain creatine, so as not to exceed the recommended daily dose.
The other exercise supplements we offer are grouped in the sport and endurance section. Creatine is for adults only; pregnant or breastfeeding women, as well as people taking medication or with a health condition, should ask a healthcare professional for advice before taking any supplement.
Nutripure, a French brand at Herba Barona
Nutripure was founded in 2017 in Haute-Garonne, near Toulouse, by Christophe Carrio, five-time world champion in artistic karate with a diploma in dietetics, and his brother Florent, an engineer. The brand has built its reputation on short formulas, identified raw materials and manufacturing in France.
Creatine is a good example: a single ingredient, a known raw material, a clear label. At Herba Barona, we have added it to the Nutripure range in our shop in Paris 12th, at 10 rue Théophile Roussel, open from Tuesday to Saturday. We can help you choose between the powder and the capsules depending on how you train.
Our shop is close to the Ledru-Rollin (line 8) and Bastille (lines 1, 5, 8) metro stations; the product’s availability is shown on this page.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a 150 g pouch last?
At 3.4 g a day, the pouch provides about 44 doses, a little over six weeks. For a three-month course, plan on two pouches, or a larger size.
Should I take creatine on rest days?
Yes. Creatine builds up in the muscle day after day: taking it every day, training or not, keeps your intake regular. The time of day matters little.
Does creatine make you gain weight?
At the start, the scales may show a little more: the creatine stored in the muscle draws water into it. This is water, not body fat. It is also why good hydration is advised.
Where can I buy Nutripure creatine in Paris?
At Herba Barona, 10 rue Théophile Roussel, in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, between Ledru-Rollin and Bastille, from Tuesday to Saturday, 9:30 am to 6:30 pm. Its availability is shown on this page.
Herba Barona’s tip — take your dose at the same time every day, for example with your glass of water at breakfast: regularity matters far more than the time. To place creatine among the other sports classics, read our article BCAA, creatine, citrulline: the athlete’s essentials.
