Daily Protein, the cocoa version
Daily Protein Chocolate takes the base of Nutripure’s Daily Protein, a blend of three proteins designed for everyday eating, and adds a natural cocoa flavouring, cocoa powder and a sweetener of plant origin, stevia. The result is closer to a light milk chocolate than to a very sweet dessert: the drink keeps a discreet sweetness and a creamy, milkshake-like texture.
This is the version we suggest to people who want a real moment of flavour in their day. A protein you enjoy taking is a protein you take regularly, and that is exactly the spirit of this range: topping up your intake without it becoming a chore.
Nutripure is a French brand founded in 2017 by Christophe Carrio, five-time world champion in artistic karate and holder of a diploma in dietetics, and his brother Florent, an engineer. The company is based in Haute-Garonne, near Toulouse, and has its products made in France. The 750 g pouch has arrived in limited quantity in our shop in Paris 12th.
Milk, egg white and faba bean: three proteins, one shaker
The formula combines three protein isolates in equal parts, each making up 28% of the powder: milk proteins, egg white and a faba bean protein. The cocoa flavouring takes up the remaining space, which explains why the chocolate version contains a little less protein than the unflavoured one.
Each source brings its own character. Milk proteins give the creamy side and are naturally rich in leucine. Egg white is a protein that is very low in fat. Faba bean, of plant origin, completes the blend and gives it a profile that is both animal and plant-based, suited to a varied diet.
These three proteins are not digested at the same speed. Their amino acids therefore arrive in a more spread-out way than with a single protein, which suits a serving at breakfast or as an afternoon snack, well away from any training session.
A 30 g serving in figures
Two scoops, or 30 g of powder, provide 22 g of protein for 119 kcal. The powder contains 74% protein, with 1.4 g of carbohydrate, of which 0.1 g of sugars, and 1.9 g of fat per serving. No sugar is added: the sweet note comes only from stevia.
The amino acid profile remains complete, with 9.1 g of essential amino acids per serving, including 4.3 g of BCAAs and 1.9 g of leucine. Protein contributes to a growth in and to the maintenance of muscle mass, and to the maintenance of normal bones. These are the only claims we use for this product.
The formula also contains lactase, an enzyme that breaks down lactose, as well as tara gum and sunflower lecithin, which give the drink its texture and help it mix. The Composition tab of this page shows the full table published by Nutripure for the chocolate flavour.
Every day: when and how to drink it
Pour 300 ml of water, milk or plant drink into a shaker, add two scoops (30 g) and shake for a few seconds. With water, the drink is light and refreshing; with milk or oat drink, it becomes rounder and more chocolatey. Let it stand for three minutes if you like it thicker.
Breakfast is the most natural moment for the chocolate version, instead of or alongside a bowl of hot chocolate, when the morning meal is low in protein. It also fits in as an afternoon snack, or at the end of the day when meals have been eaten on the run. For snacks around training, Nutripure points rather to its Muscle Protein.
You can also split the serving in two: half in the morning, the other half in the afternoon. The 750 g pouch contains 25 servings of 30 g, a little over three weeks at one serving a day. If you are unsure about the amount that suits your diet, we can talk it over together in the shop, in Paris.
Indulgent ideas with the chocolate flavour
Cocoa opens the door to sweet recipes. Nutripure suggests, for example, a chocolate cream: silken tofu, melted dark chocolate, a serving of Daily Protein Chocolate and a drizzle of honey, blended and then chilled for an hour. The result is a dense mousse, to serve with a few red berries.
The powder can also be added to a warm porridge, a pancake batter, fromage frais or a banana and peanut butter smoothie. Add it at the end of preparation, to a warm or cold liquid: boiling drinks spoil the texture and encourage lumps.
For those who mostly cook savoury dishes, or who prefer to control the taste of their recipes themselves, Daily Protein Unflavoured remains the best option: the same base formula, with no flavouring or sweetener.
Chocolate or unflavoured, Daily Protein or whey: making the right choice
Between the two versions of Daily Protein, the difference lies in the taste and a few grams: the unflavoured one provides 24 g of protein per serving and blends into recipes, the chocolate one provides 22 g and is pleasant on its own, with water or milk. If you plan to take it mainly in a shaker, the chocolate version is often the more enjoyable over the weeks.
If you are looking for a protein geared towards sports performance, Nutripure’s Whey Isolate Chocolate is based on a native whey isolate, with the same natural cocoa flavouring and the same stevia. Daily Protein remains the everyday protein, more versatile, designed for meals and snacks.
As Daily Protein contains milk and egg, it is not suitable for a vegan diet: Nutripure’s Organic Plant Protein then takes over. All the products we have selected in Paris are gathered in our protein section.
Allergens, precautions and storage
Daily Protein Chocolate contains two major allergens: milk and egg. The lactase in the formula does not make it suitable for people who are allergic to milk proteins. The product contains a sweetener, steviol glycosides from stevia.
Take it as part of a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle, without exceeding the recommended daily amount, and keep the pouch out of reach of children. Close the kraft pouch tightly after each use and store it in a cool, dry place.
Nutripure states that the product is developed and manufactured in accordance with the EN 17444 anti-doping standard, a reassuring point for the licensed athletes who visit our shop in Paris 12th.
Frequently asked questions
Is the chocolate flavour very sweet?
No. The sweetness comes from stevia, with no added sugar, and the drink stays fairly light. With milk or oat drink, the cocoa taste comes through more than with water.
Do you need to do sport to take it?
No. Daily Protein was designed to top up protein intake every day, at breakfast or as a snack, whether or not you do sport.
Why 22 g of protein instead of 24 g for the unflavoured version?
Cocoa and flavouring take up a little room in the powder: each protein goes from 32% to 28% of the formula, hence 22 g of protein per 30 g serving.
Where can I find it in Paris?
At 10 rue Théophile Roussel, in Paris 12th, from Tuesday to Saturday, 9:30 am to 6:30 pm, between the Ledru-Rollin (line 8) and Bastille (lines 1, 5, 8) metro stations. Stock is limited: it is shown on this page.
Herba Barona’s tip — in the morning, shake a serving of Daily Protein Chocolate with 300 ml of well-chilled oat drink: you get a drink reminiscent of breakfast chocolate, with no added sugar, which goes very well with a slice of wholemeal bread.
