132 doses: the math behind the large pouch
The 450 g pouch contains the same powder as the small format: creatine monohydrate Creapure®, with nothing else added. Only the time horizon changes. At 3.4 g a day, the dose recommended by Nutripure, it provides 132 doses, i.e. a little over four months of uninterrupted daily use.
The maths are simple: 450 divided by 3.4. Each 3.4 g dose of monohydrate provides 3 g of creatine, the daily amount set in France for food supplements. The scoop included in the pouch serves as a reference: according to Nutripure, half a scoop corresponds to the daily dose.
A single pouch covers the three-month course recommended by the brand and leaves about forty doses to spare. It’s the format we recommend in Paris to those who have already made creatine a habit.
A pouch open for four months: storing it properly
A large format stays open for a long time, and creatine powder cares about only one thing: staying dry. Monohydrate picks up moisture from the air; when it absorbs too much, the powder forms small clumps and is harder to dose accurately.
A few simple habits are enough. Reseal the pouch properly after each use, pushing out the air before closing it. Always use a perfectly dry spoon: a few drops from a shaker are enough to make the powder clump. Keep the pouch in a cupboard, away from the kettle, the hob, or the bathroom, where steam is frequent.
Also keep the original packaging rather than transferring the powder elsewhere: it carries the batch number and the minimum durability date.
Consistency, the key to a long course
Creatine isn’t taken like a product whose effect is expected within the hour. It accumulates gradually in the muscle: at 3 g a day, stores reach their maximum level in three to four weeks. After that, the point is to keep them full, day after day.
So the dose is also taken on rest days and during holidays. The safest approach is to attach it to a daily habit: the glass of water on waking, breakfast, the post-workout drink. Nutripure states that the dose can also be split throughout the day, in small amounts of around one gram.
And if you stop? According to the brand, stores return to their starting level within three to four weeks, and the body keeps producing its own creatine, one to two grams a day. Forgetting a dose isn’t serious: simply resume the next day, without doubling up. Drink at least 1.5 L of water a day during the course. For adults only; in case of pregnancy, breastfeeding, medical treatment, or a health condition, seek advice from a healthcare professional.
What Europe allows, and nothing more
Creatine is one of the few substances in the sports aisle with a health claim authorised by the European Union, whose official wording is: Creatine increases physical performance in successive bursts of short-term, high-intensity exercise. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 3 g of creatine.
It targets very intense, brief, repeated efforts with little recovery in between: a weight-training set, a series of sprints, a sequence of actions in a match. We add no other promise.
The raw material, Creapure®, is a creatine monohydrate produced in Germany and tested batch by batch; the finished product complies with the EN 17444 anti-doping standard. Obtained by synthesis, with no animal-derived material, it suits vegetarians and vegans.
Weight training, team sports, endurance: who takes it?
Weight training remains its best-known field, but the health claim covers many other practices. In football, rugby, handball, or basketball, a match strings together accelerations, duels, and jumps; combat sports, crossfit, and padel follow the same pattern of short, repeated efforts.
For endurance athletes, the question is different. A distance runner or a cyclist spends most of their effort at moderate intensity, a domain the claim doesn’t cover. Some take it for their interval sessions, short hill repeats, or gym strength work, which do fall under intense, repeated efforts.
In our store in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, we take the time to look with you at whether your activity matches this type of effort. Other sports-performance supplements are in our sport and endurance section.
From Barcelona 1992 to common myths
Known to chemists since the 19th century, creatine only entered sport in the early 1990s, when British and Swedish researchers showed that oral intake increases creatine stored in muscles. At the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, several British athletes said they had taken it during their preparation.
That sudden fame fuelled suspicion. No, creatine is not a doping substance: it does not appear on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s list of prohibited substances, and it is naturally present in the body as well as in food. Water retention does exist, but it’s limited to inside the muscle, where creatine draws water in as it’s stored; Nutripure notes that this volumising effect fades after a few days.
One last myth: that breaks are mandatory. The brand recommends them between courses, but states that above four training sessions a week, creatine can be taken all year round.
150 g, 450 g, or capsules: choosing your format
Nutripure offers the same Creapure® creatine in several presentations. The 150 g pouch provides 44 doses, i.e. six weeks: it’s the format to discover creatine or try the powder before committing. The 450 g pouch, with its 132 doses, matches a full course and costs less per dose.
The capsule version contains the same raw material: five capsules make up the daily dose, for those who travel a lot or don’t want to measure anything. Some combine both: the large pouch at home, a pill box in the gym bag. Other brands are gathered in our creatine section.
Nutripure is a French brand founded in 2017 near Toulouse by Christophe Carrio and his brother Florent. At Herba Barona, the Nutripure range has its place in our store in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, at 10 rue Théophile Roussel, open Tuesday to Saturday; the availability of this format is shown on this page.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the 450 g pouch last?
It contains 132 doses of 3.4 g, i.e. a little over four months at one dose a day. A three-month course leaves about forty doses for later.
How do I stop the powder from clumping?
Keep the pouch tightly closed, away from moisture and heat, and only dip a dry spoon into it. If clumps do form, simply crush them before mixing the powder.
Is creatine only for men?
No. Women also store creatine in their muscles, the mechanism is the same, and the 3 g daily dose doesn’t change. In case of pregnancy or breastfeeding, seek advice from a healthcare professional first.
Where to buy Nutripure Creatine 450 g in Paris?
At Herba Barona, 10 rue Théophile Roussel, in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, two minutes from the Ledru-Rollin metro station. The availability of the 450 g pouch is shown on this page.
Herba Barona’s tip — write the opening date on the pouch with a marker. With 132 doses, you’ll know at a glance where you stand in your course, and a level dropping slower than expected will flag the days you forgot.
