Nutripure L-carnitine, the capsule version
This white tub contains 150 capsules of L-Carnitine Carnipure®, i.e. thirty days at five capsules a day. The net weight stated on the label is 119 g. Each capsule holds L-carnitine in its tartrate form, the only active ingredient in the formula.
Capsules suit people who want a dose with no preparation: no measuring scoop, no glass to mix, no taste in the mouth. You swallow them with a glass of water, at home or at work. Nutripure also offers this L-carnitine as a powder; here, it is the capsule format that we stock.
L-carnitine is a molecule the body makes itself from two amino acids, lysine and methionine. Food provides some too, mainly red meat. The supplement provides a fixed, known amount, the same every day.
Carnipure®: a branded L-carnitine from Lonza
Carnipure® is a registered trademark of Lonza, a Swiss group that has been producing this L-carnitine for more than thirty years. Nutripure buys it under this name and states it on the label, just as it chooses Creapure® for its creatine: an identified ingredient whose origin is known.
According to Nutripure, Carnipure® is obtained through a process that gives a white crystalline powder of L-carnitine tartrate, tested batch by batch for purity and for the absence of D-carnitine, the other form of the molecule. Only the L form is used in the formula.
Tartrate is simply L-carnitine combined with tartaric acid, an acid found naturally in grapes. This combination explains the difference between the weight of Carnipure® tartrate and the amount of L-carnitine stated in the composition.
2000 mg of L-carnitine per 5 capsules
According to the Ingredients tab, which follows Nutripure’s own composition table, the five capsules of the daily dose provide 2932 mg of Carnipure® tartrate, including 2000 mg of L-carnitine. These are the only figures we use, without recalculating them capsule by capsule.
Five capsules is a number some customers find high at first. It comes from the dose chosen by the brand: 2000 mg of L-carnitine will not fit into one or two capsules of a standard size. If you find it hard to swallow them all at once, take them one by one with a few sips of water, at the same time of day.
If you prefer a more flexible dosage, our L-carnitine section also offers Dynveo’s L-carnitine Carnipure® in 500 mg capsules: the same raw material, with a number of capsules you adjust yourself.
How to take your L-carnitine capsules
Nutripure recommends five capsules a day, with a glass of water. On training days, the brand recommends taking them four to six hours before the session; on rest days, in the morning. For someone who trains at the end of the day, this often means taking them around noon, at lunchtime.
The brand advises a course of at least one month, i.e. one tub, and rather recommends three to six months. Regularity matters more than the exact time: a dose taken every day at the same moment is better than one caught up late in the evening.
Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. The supplement is for adults only and must be kept out of reach of children. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised to ask a health professional for advice before taking it. Like any food supplement, it is not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet.
A plant-based capsule and a short formula
The ingredient list fits on one line: Carnipure® tartrate, a plant-based capsule made of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, calcium citrate as a bulking agent and a little sunflower oil (1.3%). There is no animal gelatine, no flavouring and no colouring.
Nutripure’s traceability sheet describes a product that is vegan, GMO-free, non-irradiated, free from titanium dioxide, silicon dioxide and microcrystalline cellulose, and allergen-free. The raw materials come from the European Union or from countries outside the European Union, and manufacturing takes place in France.
Nutripure also states that the product was developed and manufactured in accordance with the requirements of the EN 17444 standard on the production date of the batch. This European standard covers the prevention of prohibited substances in supplements intended for athletes, a point that mainly matters to those who are tested in competition.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a tub of 150 capsules last?
Thirty days, at five capsules a day as Nutripure recommends. For a three-month course, you therefore need three tubs.
Can the 5 capsules be spread over the day?
Nutripure presents the five capsules as a single dose: four to six hours before training, or in the morning on rest days. If swallowing them together bothers you, take them one after the other at the same moment, with water.
Are these capsules suitable for vegetarians and vegans?
Yes. The capsule is plant-based, with no gelatine, and Nutripure’s traceability sheet classifies the product as vegan and allergen-free.
Where can I buy Nutripure L-Carnitine capsules in Paris?
At our shop at 10 rue Théophile Roussel, Paris 12th, two minutes from Ledru-Rollin metro station, Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm. Nutripure is sold only in store: buy it on the spot or order online and collect it from the shop.
Herba Barona’s tip — keep the tub in a kitchen cupboard rather than in the bathroom, and screw the lid back on tightly after each use. These capsules contain no anti-moisture agent: they keep better in a dry place, and a tub placed next to your morning water bottle is less easily forgotten.
