Buy Organic Tulsi (Holy Basil) Powder: India’s sacred plant

Ayur-vana Organic Tulsi Powder, nicknamed “holy basil” or “queen of plants” in India, is traditionally recognised for respiratory comfort and stress management. Economical 150 g format, 100% organic. Available at our Paris shop, with Click & Collect and delivery across France and Europe.

Tulsi, India’s sacred plant

Tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum, or Ocimum sanctum), also called holy basil, is a herbaceous plant of the mint family, native to India. Its leaves, dried and finely ground, are used as powder. In India, Tulsi is considered a sacred plant, grown around temples and Hindu homes for its protective and spiritual virtues. Nicknamed the “queen of plants”, it holds a central place in Ayurvedic tradition, classified among the adaptogenic and Rasayana (revitalising) plants. French laboratory Ayur-vana offers Tulsi leaves as pure powder, with no excipients or additives.

Tulsi and respiratory comfort

Tulsi is above all recognised for its action on the respiratory system — the reference Ayurvedic plant for supporting calm breathing, particularly valued during winter and seasonal changes. Tradition uses it to accompany respiratory comfort against seasonal discomforts such as coughs or colds. Its leaves are rich in essential oils (notably eugenol) and aromatic compounds that give it its characteristic scent.

An adaptogenic, anti-stress plant

Beyond respiratory comfort, Tulsi is an adaptogenic plant: it helps the body adapt to everyday stress and fatigue, regulating the body’s stress response without overstimulating it. Tulsi is thus traditionally used to support serenity, emotional balance and mental clarity. Its richness in antioxidant compounds also helps protect cells against oxidative stress.

How to use & precautions

Recommended dose: 1/2 teaspoon, twice a day, diluted in a drink, compote, yoghurt or herbal tea. Tulsi powder can also easily be prepared as an infusion: one spoonful in a cup of hot water. The 150 g format covers a generous course. Tulsi powder has an aromatic, slightly peppery taste typical of holy basil, particularly well suited to hot drinks and herbal teas.

Not a substitute for a varied diet. Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. If undergoing medical treatment, particularly anticoagulants, consult a healthcare professional before use. Keep out of reach of children.
