Guaranine is the name given to the caffeine naturally present in guarana seeds (Paullinia cupana). Chemically identical to coffee caffeine, it differs in its molecular environment: guarana’s tannins, saponins and catechins slow its release into the body. The result is a gentler, longer-lasting stimulation, less prone to jitteriness or sudden energy dips. The Dynveo extract is titrated to 8% caffeine, i.e. 80mg per 2-capsule dose — roughly the equivalent of a cup of coffee, but with a noticeably different release profile that maintains a steady energy plateau over several hours.

Guarana is traditionally used for its stimulating effect on alertness and concentration, helping to reduce the sensation of fatigue during periods of intense mental or physical demand. The caffeine it contains also supports thermogenesis and helps manage body weight by boosting basal metabolism. Its organic form guarantees the absence of pesticide residues or chemical extraction solvents, making it a natural, sugar-free, additive-free alternative to industrial energy drinks.

Several pharmacokinetic studies have compared caffeine absorption from guarana with that of coffee. The findings suggest that guarana’s plant matrix — rich in condensed tannins and fibre — slows caffeine release in the digestive tract, giving a more gradual stimulant effect, a delayed plasma peak, and a longer duration of action compared with coffee caffeine (Kennedy et al., 2004; Haskell et al., 2007). This kinetic profile can reduce the classic side effects of caffeine (palpitations, jitteriness, gastric reflux) while maintaining the benefits for alertness and concentration. Guarana also contains theobromine and theophylline, two related methylxanthines that contribute to the extract’s overall energising effect.

Take 2 capsules a day with a large glass of water, preferably in the morning or early afternoon. This dose provides around 80mg of natural caffeine, roughly equivalent to an espresso. Avoid taking after 4pm to prevent disrupting sleep. You can start with 1 capsule a day (40mg caffeine) to assess individual sensitivity, then adjust to 2 as needed. Courses are generally recommended over 3 to 6 weeks, followed by a one-week break, to avoid caffeine tolerance building up.
