A formula that works on several fronts
Menopause is not a single symptom, it’s a transition, and it rarely affects just one aspect of life: hot flushes, sleep, mood, energy, sometimes a feeling of mental fog. Many supplements target only one point. SIHO chose a formula with five active ingredients that share the work.
Shatavari for female balance, ashwagandha for stress management and sleep, turmeric for general wellbeing, magnesium and vitamin B6 for the nervous system and hormonal balance. Each ingredient has its own reason for being there; none is just filler on the list.
It all fits into two capsules a day, one in the morning and one in the evening. This is deliberately simple to follow, because a supplement that gets forgotten does nothing.
Shatavari, the reference plant for women in Ayurveda
Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) is a wild Indian asparagus. In Ayurveda it is the female rasayana par excellence, used for centuries at every stage of a woman’s life. Its Sanskrit name means “she who has a hundred roots”, which some also translate as “she who has a hundred husbands” — a nod to its reputation.
SIHO uses Almaragus®, a patented and standardised extract, dosed at 75 mg per capsule, i.e. 150 mg per day. Choosing a patented extract rather than a root powder guarantees a consistent level of active compounds from batch to batch. The plant is traditionally used to support women’s wellbeing during menopause.
Ashwagandha Shoden®: 35% withanolides
Ashwagandha is the best-known adaptogenic plant in Ayurveda. It helps the body manage stress better and supports quality sleep, two things that are often disrupted during perimenopause. We cover this in detail in our ashwagandha guide for Paris.
The quality of an ashwagandha extract is judged by its withanolide content, its active compounds. KSM-66®, the market reference, is standardised at 5%. Shoden®, the extract chosen by SIHO, is standardised at 35%: the highest level currently available. This explains the seemingly modest dose of 30 mg per capsule, which delivers as many withanolides as 200 mg of a classic extract.
Turmeric, magnesium and vitamin B6
Turmeric is provided in the form of BCW-050®, an extract standardised at 55% curcuminoids, at 37.5 mg per capsule. Turmeric is traditionally used for joint comfort and general wellbeing.
Magnesium bisglycinate (145 mg per capsule, 290 mg per day) is the form of magnesium best tolerated by the stomach. Magnesium contributes to the reduction of tiredness, to normal functioning of the nervous system, and to the maintenance of normal bones — a point that becomes more important after menopause.
Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity and to the reduction of tiredness. It also plays a role in magnesium metabolism. Acacia fibre completes the capsule.
How to take it
Two capsules a day: one in the morning, one in the evening, with a glass of water. The pot of 60 capsules covers one month. SIHO recommends a three-month course to get a true picture, since adaptogenic plants need a few weeks to show their effect.
The product is intended for adults only. It is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, which isn’t the topic here, nor for people on hormone or thyroid treatment without medical advice. If you are currently undergoing treatment, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
