A formula built around what cartilage is made of
Cartilage is a living tissue, about 75% water, that renews itself slowly because it has no blood vessels. Three elements give it structure: chondrocytes, the cells that build the matrix; collagen, a network of fibres that holds its shape; and proteoglycans, which retain water to form a gel that compresses and springs back, letting cartilage absorb shocks.
Each ingredient in Arthropure² corresponds to one of these components. Nutripure was founded in 2017 near Toulouse by Christophe Carrio, five-time world champion in artistic karate and a qualified dietitian, and his brother Florent, an engineer. The brand manufactures in France and complies with the EN 17444 anti-doping standard.
The six ingredients, one by one
700 mg of MSM provides organic sulphur, a building block of proteoglycans. 500 mg of KanekaNAG™ N-acetyl-glucosamine (405 mg of glucosamine), an acetylated form found in hyaluronic acid. 450 mg of Chondro’Sea© chondroitin sulphate, 90% pure, from a French laboratory.
250 mg of Boswellin® Forte, standardised to 40% boswellic acids: a resin long used in the Ayurvedic tradition for joint suppleness. 40 mg of vitamin C (50% of the reference intake): vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of cartilage. And 40 mg of native type II collagen UC-II®.
UC-II® collagen: a different logic
Forty milligrams may look small next to hydrolysed collagen, usually taken in grams. Hydrolysed collagen is cut into small peptides that serve as raw material. UC-II® is native, undenatured and non-hydrolysed: it keeps its original triple-helix structure, and the patent guarantees precisely that integrity.
Its mode of action involves the immune system rather than supplying material, which is why a small dose is enough. The two approaches do not compete: some people combine Arthropure² with a collagen from our collagen section.
How to take it, allergens and precautions
Four capsules a day with a meal and a large glass of water, in one go or split into two. What matters most is duration: allow at least three months before judging, as Nutripure states on its packaging. One box of 120 capsules lasts one month, so many people take three boxes at once.
The N-acetyl-glucosamine comes from crustaceans and the chondroitin sulphate from fish: two major allergens, so it is not suitable if you are allergic to shellfish or fish. For adults only. Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, people with diabetes or prediabetes, people with asthma, people taking vitamin K antagonist anticoagulants, or anyone on a sodium-, potassium- or calcium-controlled diet. Chondroitin should also be avoided in case of melanoma.
This list comes from the box, and we go through it every time we sell the product in our Paris 12th shop. If in doubt, talk to your doctor before starting.
Movement, weight and advice in our Paris shop
A joint supplement works best as a complement, never as a replacement. Cartilage is nourished by imbibition: compression and release during movement circulate the fluid that feeds it, and walking, cycling or swimming keep this going without jolts. Body weight matters too: every kilo less lightens the load on knees and hips. Other options are in our joints section.

Frequently asked questions
How long before judging the result?
Three months, the period the manufacturer itself indicates. One month is not enough.
Can it be combined with marine collagen?
Yes. UC-II® works by a different route from hydrolysed collagen, and some people take both.
Is it suitable for vegetarians?
No. It contains glucosamine from crustaceans and chondroitin from fish.
Where can I find Arthropure² in Paris?
At Herba Barona, 10 rue Théophile Roussel, Paris 12th, Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30 am to 6.30 pm, between Ledru-Rollin and Bastille metro stations.
