Citicoline, also known as CDP-choline (cytidine 5′-diphosphocholine), is a compound naturally present in the human brain. It plays a central role in the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine, one of the major phospholipids in neuronal cell membranes — without enough citicoline, the structure and fluidity of these membranes cannot be properly maintained. Dynveo has chosen the patented Cognizin® form, developed and validated by Japanese company Kyowa Hakko. This form differs from standard CDP-cholines in its superior bioavailability profile: pharmacokinetic studies show Cognizin® is rapidly absorbed in the intestine and effectively crosses the blood-brain barrier to reach brain cells. Each Dynveo capsule provides 250mg of Cognizin®, a dose studied in numerous clinical trials.

Citicoline is one of the best-documented compounds in nutritional neurology. It contributes to the synthesis of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter essential to learning, memory and attention processes. By increasing choline availability for the brain, it supports nerve transmission and synaptic plasticity. Several clinical studies have evaluated the effects of Cognizin® on cognitive function. A study published in the Journal of Nutrition found that supplementing with 250 to 500mg of Cognizin® a day improved attentional performance and information-processing speed in healthy adults. Other research highlights its role in maintaining brain energy levels via neuronal mitochondrial ATP synthesis. Citicoline is also studied in the context of brain ageing and long-term maintenance of mental capacities, thanks to its multi-pathway mechanism — membrane phospholipid synthesis, dopaminergic support, antioxidant action.

Recommended dose is one to two capsules a day, preferably taken in the morning with a large glass of water, at breakfast. For basic cognitive support or preventive supplementation, one capsule a day (250mg Cognizin®) is generally enough; for periods of increased mental workload — exam preparation, intensive work projects, mental fatigue — the dose can be increased to two capsules a day (500mg), in line with available clinical studies. A minimum 8-week course is recommended to observe long-term effects on memory and concentration. Citicoline does not cause dependency and can be taken continuously or in 3-month cycles.

Suitable for adults aged 18 and over. If on medication acting on the central nervous system, or with a treated psychiatric condition, consult your doctor before starting citicoline supplementation. Pregnant and breastfeeding women have increased choline needs, but any supplementation during these periods should be approved by a doctor. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Food supplement. What is the difference between citicoline and choline bitartrate?

Citicoline (CDP-choline) is a more complex, better-absorbed form than simple choline bitartrate. It releases both choline and cytidine into the body, providing more complete support for neuronal membranes and neurotransmitter synthesis. The patented Cognizin® form additionally offers clinically validated bioavailability.

Can citicoline be combined with other supplements?
