What Is Vitamin B3 Used For?

Vitamin B3 (niacin or niacinamide) is a precursor of NAD+ and NADP, two major coenzymes in cellular energy metabolism. It is involved in hundreds of enzymatic reactions: ATP production, DNA repair, and the synthesis of steroid hormones. Two forms dominate: niacin (with a flushing effect, vasodilating) and niacinamide (the amide form, flush-free, favoured for skin and nervous system support).
